Gary Halbert strikes again
To me, a genius is a person who can cut through all the confusion and get right to the heart of the matter.
Gary was a genius about direct mail, he was a genius about print, but what a lot of people don't realize is that he was a genius about the Internet too.
His technical understanding could not have been more limited, but more important, he knew what worked and he made the Internet work with the skills he had at his disposal.
Many years ago, I heard what I thought was the best description of what people want online:
1. Cures for loneliness
2. Cures for boredom
3. Way to enhance their lifestyle
4. Ways to make more money
I think with this simple formula Gary wins the prize for getting to the essence.
